Wiki (jp) Yamazaki was involved in independent animation as a student at a film school, and after working as an assistant to a manga artist, he won the 99th YJ Monthly Newcomer's Award Encouragement Prize (Shueisha) for "Kappa no Takaramono" under the name Yamazaki Hiroshi.
